Tim Dorsey was born on January 25, 1961 in Carmel, Indiana and moved to Florida when he was a 1-year-old. Dorsey grew up in Rivera Beach, Florida and graduated from Auburn University in 1983. He was editor of The Plainsman, the Auburn University student newspaper.
After college, Dorsey was the police and courts reporter for The Alabama Journal, in Montgomery, Alabama. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1987 and took a reporter job for the Tampa Tribune. He wrote for the Tribune until 1999, when we left to write full-time.
According to his online bio, “he lives in Florida and will never leave. “
